Nutrition

Individual and Group

50 or 30 minute sessions

The first step in a nutrition and weight loss program is to get a clear picture of your current relationship with food and drink. For a few days, keep a journal of what you eat and drink for each meal of the day. You will want to include in-between meal snacking if any. Make sure you include the weekend because, depending on your work and lifestyle, your diet might be significantly different on those days.

In addition to what you eat and drink, tune into how you are eating. Do you eat on the go, standing, or in the car? Do you take phone calls, read, check social media sites, return email messages, watch television or have the radio going? What level of attention do you pay to the food you eat? How long do you give yourself to eat a meal or drink a hot beverage? How frequently do you eat alone?

In discussing your diet, I'll ask about medical conditions, medication, food allergies, food sensitivity, or dislikes. We'll discuss where you source your food and how much you cook, if at all.

Food should nurture your body and the experience of eating should be pleasurable. It is one major way that you can change unwanted patterns and replace them with healthy habits that better serve your physical and emotional needs. Based on your journal and our conversation, I will support you with concrete suggestions and strategies for shifting your perspective while expanding your healthy and delicious food and beverage choices.
